Favorites

Since I haven't done monthly updates in a while, I thought I would jot down some things Jack likes at 22 months:

- vehicles - cars, planes, bikes, motorcycles (mo!), ambulances, fire trucks, tractors, trains (too too), helicopters (heh-cah)...
- humus - (um-ah) he would eat this all day if I Iet him!
- yogurt - (mah-gow) his other favorite food
- counting - he loves to count things like this: dadadadadaaaaa da! Two!
- animals - he loves different animals including his own personal animal, Lucy, and all the animals at the zoo. His latest skill is making the sound the elephant makes. I also love how he says horsey: ee-sow. Hee hee!
- riding or pushing toys
- pool - he calls it "Poo!" Ha ha! He loves his tiny back yard pool & he loves the big pool at Grandma & Grandpa's house. He did great on the 4th holding onto the wall, holding his breath & putting his face in the water, jumping to mommy, and exploring the stairs where his feet could touch.
- people - he loves his family and all our friends. He also loves getting the attention of strangers in restaurants and when we're out running errands.
- sounds - animal sounds, car sounds, screaming, screeching, whispering...he is doing a lot of experimenting lately!

Jack & Lucy

Jack made quite the mess at dinner tonight, so we decided to have some pool time before bath time. He & Lucy made up a game where she dropped her frisbee in his pool & he threw it out. Jack thought this was hilarious! After that he was mimicking Lucy by rubbing his face on the grass, rolling around, trying to drink out of the pool, etc.

Jack & Mama: Day 3

Today was the best yet. I decided instead of focusing on my to do list, I would just get done what I could when I could. It was very freeing. Jack and I both woke up late & were moving pretty slow, so I decided we would make a Starbucks run. I got myself some good ol' caffeine & I got Jack a blueberry muffin. All the way home (we went through the drive through since we were still in our Pjs!) I told Jack I had a special treat for him. It was so fun to watch him get excited. He ate his muffin enthusiastically & talked to me while I drank my coffee. It was really sweet.
After that we went to the library for story time. I have never been before, so I didn't know what to expect. Jack walked in the library his exuberant self, but quickly froze & became clingy when we walked in a little room full of moms and babies. It's fun to watch him in new situations because he starts out quiet & shy as he observes everything going on. By the end though, he was in the middle of the circle showing off his jumping skills. Ha ha! The experience also reconfirmed his love for all things transportation related. At the end of story time the librarian dumped a huge bucket of toys in the middle & let the kids go wild. Jack spent the time collecting the following: a tractor, a train, a car, and a plane. I think I know the theme for his 2nd birthday! ;)
After story time we came home for lunch & nap. I was able to finish cleaning the kitchen & mop the floor, so I felt pretty productive. After that we vegged out together watching some Fresh Beat Band & eating chips and queso. Jack is obsessed with any kind of dip, so he was delighted (& yes, I forced plenty of fruits & veggies on him for dinner to make up for it!)
Next came more pool time/yard work, then bath time & bed. It was just a really fun day with my little guy!

Jack Prayers

Jack has started helping us pray by filling in the blanks of "God bless..." or "Thank you God for..."

He consistently starts with Nana, then Grandada, then Jack, followed by Mama, Dada, & Mae Mae. After that it changes each night but he pretty much covers both families (including "Pa" - his new name for Grandpa), & "water" along with some words I still don't understand. I love it though. It's so sweet to see him think & think about all the people he knows and loves. The final touch is the big "May-men!" at the end. :) I love that sweet boy!

What a Day! AKA Jack & Mama Day 2

Today was pretty wild...kinda like a roller coaster. We had times of great fun & laughter, as well as some...well, craziness. We spent the morning working on the backyard. I trimmed bushes & trees while Jack played in his pool & offered his expertise every few minutes. After that we cleaned up, & Jack played while I cleaned the house. At lunch I decided it would be fun to terrorize patrons at the local Freebirds, so that's what we did. After that it was nap time! Woo hoo! ;) The evening was filled with more exciting activities like deconstructing the laundry bin, redistributing toys around the house, climbing on furniture, and creating weapons out of seemingly harmless objects. Now Jack's in bed & Mama is tired. But it's a good tired, right?

Jack & Mama: Day 1

Daddy's away, so Jack & I have a huge list of things to do this week! Today we trimmed the bushes in the front yard- well, I did. Jack sat in his stroller & ate his breakfast. :) Then we packed up for the zoo. I decided we were going to do it stroller free & that Jack was going to lead us. It was awesome! He was most excited to see the monkeys (ah oo ah oo) so we started there. After that we spent a lot of the time in the MOLA with all the reptiles. We finished with the stinky flamingos. By that point he had worn himself out! He had a blast & loved pointing out the animals & telling me what they were. After playing the stay awake game on the way home, and dropping off some dry cleaning we ate lunch & now he's napping. That's what I call a successful morning! :)
